Today’s communication tools revolve around social networking platforms that allow users to connect with the world and consequently share personal information that can remain digitally in cyberspace forever. Learn from social media professional and mother of two teens, Michelle Beckham, what colleges, employers, and others can see of your teen’s digital footprint in this interactive course.

We will discuss:

  • How key social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter work

  • What privacy settings really mean

  • The importance of establishing a Reputation Management system for kids to stay on top of their online personal brand

  • Precautions that can be taken to protect your kids

  • How free apps and games like Zynga’s Farmville  open up your child’s private information from their social graph to outsiders

 

Group discussion is a key part of this dynamic 2-hour program for parents, teachers, counselors, relatives, and anyone else who would like to know more about the Online World where teen spend so much of their time. Live demonstrations of related websites and social networking platforms will be shown.
